Meg Mitchell (b. 1984) lives in Portland, Maine. She received her BFA in photography from Parsons School of Design in 2007. Her photography attempts to recreate moments and experiences steeped in identity to explore and better understand the meaning and significance of universal human interactions and experiences. Each body of work is a study of her psyche as if she is sharing a secret with the public to feel seen and connected to the world. Performance plays a huge role in her artwork. With each photo series the act of collecting, making, performing and staging allows Mitchell to immerse herself in each project. Her work is in the permanent collection at the Portland Museum of Art.
