Working primarily in installation and sculpture, Allison creates works in which subjects serve as a prism for complex emotional states — the kind that silently shape our experience of everyday settings. She works to cultivate non-threatening domestic symbols or environments, all the while infusing these works with the anxieties that we bring into the home. Love, discomfort, longing, and fantasy all pervade ordinary life; the work reflects the bracing presence of these forces within the subdued atmosphere of homes, rooms, and neighborhoods.
